Sand and cement is the traditional way to render, and it's still the right answer for plenty of jobs. We use it on house walls, extensions and outbuildings, and it's ideal for garden and boundary walls where you want a smooth, solid finish over block or brick.
Scratch coats
A sand and cement scratch coat is also the base for most modern finishes. It straightens the wall, gives a consistent backing and is scored so the top coat keys in properly. Many of our silicone render jobs start exactly this way.
Garden walls and outdoor areas
Rendering new block walls in a garden, around a patio or alongside steps tidies the whole space up. We render the faces and the tops cleanly so the walls look finished rather than just built.
Finishes
Sand and cement can be left as a smooth float finish ready for masonry paint, or used as the base for a through-coloured top coat. We'll talk through the options when we quote.
Where we work
We render house walls, garden walls and outbuildings from our base in Bridgwater, across Somerset and Dorset, including Taunton and Yeovil.
